[Edit on 11/24/16: This post has been extremely popular since it’s publication. Unfortunately, some of the links below are no longer functional. For those of you studying for California’s Dental Law and Ethics Exam, try the links below to download the CDA Code of Ethics and the table of permitted duties if they still work. If these links stop working, visit the California Dental Board website located at http://www.dbc.ca.gov to find some useful information. Since these links have proven unreliable, I am in the process of writing a study guide for this exam, but have not set a hard deadline of its completion. When complete, I will update this blog post. In the mean time, you can subscribe to my newsletter if you’d like to be the first to know when I release a study guide for the California Dental Law and Ethics Exam. Good luck – Chance]

I recently passed the California Law and Ethics Exam – an exam new graduates are required to take prior to obtaining their license to practice dentistry in the state of California.

The exam is 50 multiple choice questions, 50 minutes in length. There is ample time to complete the exam, and most questions only require common sense to be answered correctly.

To study for this exam, it would be wise to set aside an hour or so to complete this free online CE course I found that reviews the California Dental Practice Act. You can take the course here [broken link].

You can download the CDA Code of Ethics here.

You can download the Dental Board of California Table of Permitted Duties here.

You can download Dr. Bruce Peltier’s (of UOP) review of the California Dental Practice Act here [broken link].
