Undoubtedly, you have noticed that more patients use their mobile phones than flick through magazines while in your waiting room these days. Many of your patients are using this down-time to either catch up on emails or browse their social media feeds – where Facebook and Instagram seem to be the most popular.

Since Facebook provides business services, it should be noted that Facebook has created a free bluetooth “beacon” that businesses can use to drive engagement of nearby Facebook users to their Facebook pages. While it’s unlikely that Facebook will provide these beacons to small businesses like dental offices in the immediate future, the ability to use a cell phone’s GPS to pinpoint a users location and deliver relevant content to that user are worth noting as dentists develop a modern marketing strategy.
