I don’t believe that education is the answer to increasing case acceptance. It helps to have informed patients, but people buy things because they believe they are worth more than they cost. Educating a patient about their oral or systemic health is a great cause, but few people are willing to invest time or money in prevention.

A patient who has neglected their mouth and is now ready for comprehensive care is a patient who believes that the condition of their oral cavity is currently socially unacceptable. Just like getting out of pain is worth a lot more than preventing it, regaining social acceptance is worth much more than preventing the condition in the first place.
